American Airlines | Promotion Codes and Coupons

American Airlines promotion code
coupon for 10% off
One of the more popular questions I get is, "How do I fly cheaper?" I flew to Cairo this year for $600.00 using American Airline miles, and finding great discounts through American Airlines and their partner British Airways. I've tried to make list for my friends who fly American too, and make it as simple as possible. I try to keep it up to date, so I thought I'd share. So here's my latest guide to getting AA promo codes and coupons that I know of.

Option 1: Get a "Entertainment" book.
This has moved up in the list as the easiest way to get a promo code. (instant gratification) American has done their best to eliminate many of the web opportunities out there, but this one remains. The book costs about $12-$25 dollars and has lots more coupons you can use elsewhere.. AA's discount is available immediately after purchase (on Entertainment's website) as either a 5% or 10% discount on their website based on your geographical location. For 2010, most are 5% which is really good considering whats out there. (I saved $300 on my last trip to Europe.)

    Here's the web address:

then search for American Airlines... (under travel) it comes right up.

    Here's some further details:
Save 5% off any fare worldwide for up to six (6) passengers.
American Airlines is pleased to offer registered Entertainment® members a special discount of off your next trip to any destination we fly worldwide. This exclusive Discount Code may be used only once by, for up to six people
 * Discount applies to any published fare of at least $150. * Discount may be used for up to six passengers on a single purchase.
While American has done their best to counteract many web efforts for free discounts, if you have more time than money these options may yet still yield you some sort of discount:

Option 2: Student and Military Discounts.

Are you a student or in the Military? Last we heard they were giving away 10% off to both. Now they have removed it from the website, but I've been told it's still available via their 1-800 number if you can show proof.
Option 3: Google
Here's a couple Google searches for any current American Airline's promotion which currently resides in their discount system for a better rate. I've been using a similar process for years at Avis, and have always ended up with a killer deals. You kind of have to sift through them:

    Google: American Airlines Promotion Code
Option 4: AA Vacations
If you're willing to purchase your entire "vacation" with American Airlines, will spit out 10% discounts all day long... Although their choice of Hotels seems a bit small compared with other sites I've seen. Students are currently being offered the code "GO2AA" for 5% on any destination as a vacation package.

Option 5: Contact American Airlines and ask for a 10% discount
While it's unverified, and I've yet to hear success (if you do let me know,) a commenter has stated that if you email:

he or she will provide you with a 10% discount.

Option 6: Other Options for finding cheap airfares (American and others):

Cheapoair, seems to be one of the better airline consolidators. I'm adding this one because it's managing bookings I'm not finding elsewhere. It just came up with RDU to BRU for $650, while every other site is showing about $1000. Sure it involves transversing New York and three airlines... but it's cheap. Software is like Orbitz, & all the commercial cheap sites without all the B.S. like Cheap Flight's travel matrix, reminds me of the original "" site. Fare Watchdog has mainly domestic airfares, but sometimes good deals Zoo's Last Minute deals. Never found much, but I keep looking Air's E-savers... Pretty self explanatory
AA.comAmerican Airline's last minute international getaways.
http://www.1800flyeurope.comI had to add this one tonight... They were almost $200.00 cheaper then American Airlines website for the exact same flight.
This one has interesting multi-city package deals rather reasonably:
Found a great price on our flight to Europe. In fact the cheapest so far.
A really great search engine for airfare and travel. How I found Travel Papa.
Kayak Buzz: If you're flexible, enter a landmass and find a deal:
Don't forget the rental car: Rental Cars Discounts.

This method is questionable, but offers deniable plausibility of accidentally clicking on a corporate account and gaining their discounted rate. Various choices will show up, but you have to hunt for the best discount, but by doing so It can often provide up to a 25-75% discount on car rentals:

Enterprise discount

A similar method to the above Enterprise, but with Avis car rental is available here: Avis AWD Discounts

We've also been told the following on Avis:

Hello , D454000 = the BEST AVIS code , have used it for years and it saves me anywhere from 1/3 off to half off, really... even when I call it in, the operator jumps back and says "Whow, great code, where'd ya get it?" It was in a little promo letter they sent out yrs ago.....

If you have any further discounts, post them and we will add it too the list!
